What is a Flood?
A flood is a time when an overfilling of a water body or overflow of streets. This is caused by a great amount precipitation in a specific area of region after rain for long periods of time. Floods are common in Texas too. Most floods follow hurricanes with heavy rains for days.
How do floods impact Texas Ecoregions?
Floods impact Texas in ways that they can cause a lot of damage to the environment. When it floods, a lot of water fills the streets or even the river gets overfilled. When this happens, the plant organisms that live there may be covered in the dark for a long time or they could even die because of too much water by drowning if there is a lot of water and the water covers a large area. This might cause a chain reaction with the animals that live in the areas that eat the plants. The animals that eat the herbivores will also start to die out as a result of famine. Farming land would have a much greater effect if this was to happen there.
This might also cause damage do houses. If the water is very high, then the flood could drown houses and death could be a result. If there is warning of definite severe flooding, then sometimes people move to different places to escape heavy flooding. Vehicles will also drown in chances of floating away also.
